If you must purchase cheap computer desk furniture, remember that low cost does not always mean poor quality. There are plenty of products available to help set up a home office or work space, that will fit the budget and function as they should. You will find products in the lower prices ranges, made of a variety of materials, such as wood or glass.
There are plenty of steel frame glass top products available. They can be found in office supply stores and in some retail stores for $125 or less. Such products provide a sturdy work surface for computers, printers and any other hardware. If one does not mind cleaning the smudges that commonly occur, they can create a very professional look in the work space. Frames can come in nickel, black or chrome finishes, while the top surfaces can come in clear, shaded or frosted glass. They are typically simple to put together, with a few strong bolts and a screw driver or allen wrench.
If the work space needs additional storage for books or reference materials, printer and scanner, a hutch type model made of wood or fiberboard may be more suitable. For those who need something a bit more portable or movable, there are plenty of units in wheels or casters, that will hold a computer and keyboard, as well as some peripherals. If a simple surface for a laptop is required, plenty of models allow for easy movement from one room to another and can be purchased for $75 or less, depending on design. They make excellent work surfaces for those who must keep an eye on small children or who prefer to work in various locations throughout the home. They can be a great addition to a home office, with matching shelving units and file cabinets.
